A Worldview

For some reason, I have always wanted to have a world map shower curtain. My second roommate who just officially moved in, happened to have one and it is now installed in our shower. It really is a dream come true as I explore a new far away land as I brush my teeth every morning. 

A Working Lunch

We practiced dipping chalk in water during lunch to make our own portraits interpreting the "Wonders Of Weather" for our upcoming family night. Just another day at the office...

Glacial Activity

This is the 12 mile long, Mendenhall Glacier where I took a lovely afternoon trudge through the snow  across the frozen lake to with a friend. I was extremely tempted to go climb it but that was a bad idea for 2 reasons...1. it is very far away (looks deceivingly close because it is hard to imagine how massive it actually is) and 2. that whole falling through the ice thing...not on my to-do list. 

Gooooooood Morning, Juneau!

Downtown Juneau getting ready for the day to begin. And me getting ready for my walk across the bridge to the gym this morning. I just follow the bright lights and big mountains. 

Sound of Sunshine

I caught a beach sunrise today after a quiet and peaceful walk a couple miles down the road from my apartment in the dark.

I went on my first snowshoe hike this morning. I was the first one out on the trail so the powder was fresh, the sun was shining and the blue skies graced me with their presence. I stopped for a minute midway through, sat down, and took a look at this...

Goldilocks's Friends in Juneau

A random urge to go play in the snow turned into a trip to the center of the round-a-bout down the hill from our apartment and the creation of this snowy bear family. Our work of art was well received as we got frequently honked at, waved at and congratulated on our work from friendly Juneauites passing by. 

Slow & Snowy Saturday

There's nothing like waking up at 7am on a Saturday, looking at the snow falling out the window, lighting a candle and getting back in bed with a book because you have nothing on the agenda, and the whole day ahead of you. 

Hooray!

The moon is out to play, and the sun is still shining away.

Happy Love Day!

My lovely mother always sends me a Valentines' Day package with an array of holiday themed surprises, one this year being a bathing suit...she may have forgotten where I live. When I asked why, she replied "it was pink!" I love it so I'm not complaining! It also always includes Valentines' day baking materials...so naturally, we did some damage in the kitchen. Thanks Mom!

Welcome To The Family

We had a murder mystery dinner party last night...italian mob family themed. Here is a shot of our table before all of the madness went down. The murderer was at the table, but you'll have to play to find out who done it. Capishe?

A Long Day...

Lobbying is hard work. I think these guys are ready for snack time. 

Little Lobbyists

Our little lobbyists were at it again today in the capitol building! They sure did look ready to educate some legislators as they got on the elevator with a senator. I hope they had their "elevator speech" ready!

Kids In The Capitol

We took preschoolers into the capitol today to give legislators valentines, sing a song and tell them how important early childhood is. 3 year olds are GREAT shmoosers. They even brought us into the senate session to have the little ones officially introduced.

Tail Wagging Walk

I am house/dog sitting this week and my new friend Lola and I woke up to a beautifully snowy mountainside walk. We were both very excited about the long awaited arrival of some snow around here! 

Gel Pens & Chocolate Bars

This was the table at the AEYC staff retreat. We all got new notebooks, gel pens (hadn't seen one of those since I was 13) and a chocolate bar wrapped up with our name on it! It was a day of laughter, "professional development," staff bonding and discussing how to incorporate play into our work and how to make people's days. Early childhood is the greatest.
